About This Quote

The expression “booley village” was popularized in the 1950’s after a trip to Skellig Michael, a tiny island off the coast of Ireland. The islanders would bring their livestock to the island for the summer solstice, a pagan festival that is believed to be a celebration of the Sun God. In order for them to get there, they would have to walk the entire way. They would shelter their animals in stone huts.

When they got there, they would sing and tell stories all night long. It must have been a great party!
